What's everyone doing these days?

working, and working, and working ...
serving on the board of time out youth (local youth lgbt organization)
...
sponsoring various lgbt fundraisers and events ...
parenting a couple of teenagers (it's HARD!) ...

let's see ... what else ...

spent a lovely couple of hours with my soul sister (hi, dev!) and her
gf a couple of weeks ago ... my girl and i cooked them dinner when they
were in this part of the country briefly ...

What's everyone doing these days?

life has been busy/crazy! after 9 1/2 years in the same house, i moved
out, rented it to three college kids, found an awesome home for one of my
two dogs, and moved in with my girlfriend. we've been together for 14
months, and i think i've finally found home. we live on an acre and a half
not far outside of town...the cat has turned into quite the little
huntress, and our two remaining dogs have become fast friends. there's a
sweet little garden off our bedroom, where we can lay in bed on a saturday
morning and watch red and yellow finches, orioles, and mockingbirds
competing for plums on the tree and seed in the feeders.

other than that, i've been working on my music...working with a voice
coach, writing songs, and performing at open mic's and family gatherings.
it's really rewarding!

yup...visited the hot and muggy beaches of the southeast coast, and took
the opportunity for a brief visit, a couple famous margaritas, and not
nearly enough sleep! poor misfit had to get up the next morning and go to
work, no less! but it was fun...

What's everyone doing these days?

on the plus side, i've been on vacation for the last week. i drove down
the oregon coast for the first time, and visited friends in cotati, santa
cruz, and los gatos. today, i went to the exploratorium in sf -- i'd never
been there during all the years i lived in the area.

tomorrow, i collect my friend lila (who's visiting from massachusetts) and
we drive back to portland together. this is only the 2nd time we've seen
each other since 1986. :)

on the down side, i ***really*** hate my job. i won't bore y'all with the
details, but if anyone knows of a good freelance writing or editing gig
that i can do from portland, let me know. oh please let me know.

Try the American Medical Writers Association (I think that's the
group). My friend who works in that field never lacks for editorial
work from foreign doctors whose English needs fixin'.
