If you're a conspiracy theorist it doesn't take much thought to believe
that Kerry was picked as the least likely person to get hurt by being
thrown to the lions. The Clinton side of the Democratic Party wasn't
willing to put Hilary out there in '04 against an incumbent president
leading the country during wartime. I think the fact that Kerry did as
well as he did was a surprise to the mainstream Dems, just goes to show
how disenchanted 48% of registered US voters are with Bush if they were
willing to vote for Kerry. If Kerry had won Hilary would've had to wait
until '12 before she could run for Pres. Now she gets to run in '08
against whomever the Reps put out there.
Personally I thought if the Reps wanted to win handily Cheney should've
begged off for the 2nd term due to "health" reasons and then Bush pick
Condeleeza Rice for VP. You can't get much more war hawkish /
conservative than Condy, which meant the ultra conservative side of Reps
wouldn've stayed and I think she would've attracted black voters to the
Reps. Bringing Condy in as Veep now would've given her the leg up against
whoever the Dems candidate is in '08, which right now Hilary seems to tbe
the strong front runner.
Leaving us with the first female president in the US.
