Thanks, pal! I hope yours was good, too. Big wave to everyone. At the
rate I seem to be able to get here, I better go on and wish the locals
a Happy Tday.
Needless to say, there was no joy here in Mudville after Tuesday. I
saw that Canada already warned against any mass influx of unhappy
Americans. <sigh>
I still say that a lesbian retirement home is a good idea...and I'm
the only one old enough to already need it. ;>

Needless to say, there was no joy here in Mudville after Tuesday. I
saw that Canada already warned against any mass influx of unhappy
Americans. <sigh>

I heard an interesting take on the US election from a commentator the
other morning. He was theorizing that the reason Bush won was that a
lot of conservative evangelicals and conservative Catholics turned
out to vote who ordinarily don't bother to. The exit polls indicated
that _their_ #1 concern was _not_ terrorism and _not_ the economy.
Instead, it was "traditional values." A number of states had
anti-gay-marriage initiatives on their ballot, and apparently enough
people turned up specifically to vote against them and voted for W
while they were there. Gay marriage, said the commentator, has
apparently even upstaged abortion as the #1 concern of these
conservatives.

Oh, and despite Kerry's straight-as-a-ruler personal life, apparently
the Democrats are still dealing with the lingering miasma of J.F.
Kennedy's and Bill Clinton's, um, playboyishness.

Gosh. Who'd a thunk it? A US election that's entirely about sex. Only
in America <sigh>.

On a lighter note <looking around for one desperately> we're having
lovely, sunny fall weather at the moment :)
