Hey all,
Long time no see, eh?
I haven't posted in so long that my fingers barely know the keyboard
anymore. (And my brain is stuttering as I type this, in its attempts
to form words -- but then, I _am_ the resident lunatic, so perhaps the
last is not so unusual after all...) :-/
It feels a bit strange coming in here and posting a New Year's
greeting in light of recent tragedies, both on the global scale with
the tsunami aftermath, and on the individual front, with the loss of
beloved feline companions, and other losses for some.
Still...
The New Year does give us a chance to take a moment and reflect as we
bid farewell to the old. In that spirit, I'd just like to say "hello"
to shoes I haven't kept in touch with -- I've been a brooding cyn#,
(all of me), but the ng and you folks are never far from my thoughts.
Even as I often imagine the solidarity of the group, the emotional
support of aslmers as a collective whole, enfolding me in times of
turmoil, so too do I believe others feel a connection to this group
when trouble assails them. Looking back on 2004, I know it's been a
tough year for many of you...and I can only hope that you know my
thoughts have been with you.
"You're never alone, as long as you have your shoes." -- with a nod
to Pat.
(Sounds corny, I realize, but I've always felt the warmth of the women
behind this group, and I appreciate it that...even if it is just
sentiment and emotional fuzziness on my part.)

May we have the strength and courage to face the challenges of 2005,
with the emotional support of the shoes...friends, far and wide, even
if never met.
May diligence, and perseverence, allow us to achieve our goals and
overcome any obstacles in our paths. And if beset, feeling lost and
alone, and powerless...hold on just a little bit longer, dig just a
little deeper inside yourself, and discover that there's an entire
core of strength within your reach. Know that you can get through
anything, if you just take it one day at a time.
May compassion never be allowed to die. Nourish those you love, and
let them in to nourish you. Cherish the moments that give life
meaning. Be proud, and humble, with who you are in life...and let
neither stop you from becoming who you can be.
May we enjoy a safe and prosperous New Year.
