I'm back...again

Hi, all,

Some of you may remember me,
I'm the person who vanishes for years at a time and
then turns up for a bit. *grin*

So I'm back. No longer in Maine, or New Hampshire, or
Minneapolis, or Chicago--I'm currently in Ottawa,
as in Canada. I can't decide if being safely over
the border is good or bad at the moment, but here I
am. *smile* ...and yes, I'm working on getting my
absentee ballot.

I'm halfway through seminary for Unitarian
Universalist ministry (some of you may remember when I
was
engaged to a seminarian--it's contagious), in Ottawa
for my internship year, single, and cat-less again
(my recent ex--not the seminarian--kept the two black
and wonderful cats--they were brothers and we
couldn't split them up). I have a perfectly good
apartment in Ottawa overlooking the Queensway and a
wonderful congregation and supervisor. Now if only I
could find friends in this city...*wry grin*

So hello again, it's so good to be back, and so good
to see familiar folks--hi Steph! Hi, lastoutlaw!

Ahhhahhhhh..... Don't taunt! Please, have a heart. We've made the
decision these two monts past to cancel the cable. I know the NHL is locked
out, but the NFL plays weekly. I'm having withdrawls. My only comfort is
knowing that the election is fast approaching and to have the news on would
make me vomit (both candidates.)

i had real trouble deciding whether i really liked her or couldn't stand
her. i finally settled on the former. on the weekends i drive to portland,
i get into range of the portland air america station right about the time
her show starts. i can pretty much tell you the milepost were i start
picking up the signal.

and the station is raising its power soon, which means i'll be able to
listen to her for even more of each trip :)

i was wondering how you were doing with jeanne passing through your
neighborhood. i'm glad to hear things are okay.

We had some blustery winds over the evening and last night. A tornado
touched down in the upstate. It took out several mobile homes and killed
one. I have been very fortunate. My house has been pretty solid. Not
even a shake or shimmy. It would likely flood out before it blows out,
unless it receives a direct hit.

If only! .....I haven't been north in ages. ...or west for that matter.
The job search hasn't been very productive. My temp is stood down
for yet another week. I'm off to Columbia on Thursday to be tested
for a chance at vocational rehab. at the VA. The best I can hope for
is full time school to complete a degree or some certification program
with a small monthly stipend to offset bills. This is what I want. The
worst of course, would be that they deny me any rehabilitation at all.

The big question is....what do I want to be when I grow up?

history teacher...sigh. Money is nice but I also want to enjoy
